LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL TRAINING PORTION:
- Understand why erosion and sediment control matters – why do we care and what regulations apply
- Understand how LEED defines and approaches erosion and sediment control
- Be able to recognize the risk level of different site conditions for erosion and sediment control
- Understand the fundamental concepts for erosion and sediment control
- Review of common erosion and sediment control techniques – what details make each technique successful
- What are the critical factors that make a well-managed erosion and sediment control project
- Understand how municipally driven ESC regulations overlap and may be the same or different from LEED
- Know what will be required for ESC reporting for LEED or Municipalities

David Shearer is a Director in the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) group. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph and is a Canadian Green Building Council, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and a member of the Canadian Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists. David has more than 15 years of environmental consulting experience and has completed nearly 4,000 projects on behalf of Pinchin Ltd., including detailed mould, IEQ and hazardous materials site assessments; risk assessments; remedial solution design; quality assurance monitoring; reinstatement; and renovation. This experience extends to residential, commercial, industrial and government projects. David has been responsible for a variety of high-profile water damage and mould assessment projects in some of Western Canada’s most valuable and unique buildings. This includes developing assessment methodologies, selecting assessment tools and analytical methods, evaluating remediation processes, implementation planning, monitoring and oversight.
Brennan Anstey is the Operations Manager of the BC Environmental Science group and has been employed by Pinchin Ltd. since 2014. Brennan is an environmental generalist who is able to identify project needs and clearly lead clients and project teams towards success. Brennan is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia and Alberta and has over 15 years of environmental experience in industrial, construction and land development industries. He has successfully managed award winning environmental projects and has supervised both local and international teams. He provides both management and technical expertise that maintains or enhances environmental health while supporting efficient project development. Brennan has developed provincial and federal environmental assessments and has acquired environmental permits for both large and small development projects. He has created effective sediment and erosion control strategies, water treatment and management designs, environmental construction programs and has managed the design and construction of aquatic habitats. Brennan is also an experienced site assessor and has led multiple successful contaminant remediation programs using both conventional and alternative technologies.
