The hot water temperature in my home is at the standard factory or installation setting. I will turn it down to 49°C (a plumber can do this for you).

I will also wrap the hot water tank in a thermal blanket and insulate hot water pipes as much as possible to minimize radiation heat loss. Insulating the first metre (three feet) of hot and cold water pipes near the tank can save up to 3 percent on heating costs.
