What is your opinion on vinyl windows?
Submitted by daniellew on Sat, 11/08/2007 - 13:42.Vinyl windows are acceptable provided they are high-performance and include some of the following features:
- Insulated spacers
- Thermally broken frames
- Air leakage less than 2% per year etc
The way other vinyl suppliers have got around this is through setting up take-back programs and using recycled content. The manufacturing process of PVC and derivatives is not good. Visit the Healthy Building Network for more info.

Do you have information on energy-efficient and eco-friendly windows and doors? Does BC Hydro offer rebates?
Submitted by daniellew on Sat, 11/08/2007 - 13:38.BC Hydro does currently have a window rebate program (see below) but not a door rebate program. However there is good info on doors here:

1) Westech (Coquitlam)
2) Loewen (Ontario)
3) Pella (US)

Can you recommend any window brands with green features?
