What is a Sustainable Building?

The official definition of sustainable development is "meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". This definition first appeared in 1987 in the UN Brundtland Report which started a public dialogue that is becoming more active and important with every passing day.

China and the world discuss the environment online

chinesedialogue.net is a site Ting Pan tipped me off on earlier this week. Ting is our resident Chinese translator who has rekindled an interest in thinking about different cultural values along side the common ground we share, in pursuit of sustainability. the website is beautifully simple to look at: like a mirror but in Chinese and English. This is before you even start to read the content which immediately fills you with a sense of breadth and depth. I had to install Chinese characters onto my computer; before I could see them instead of 0's and ?'s.

Ting has translated our brochure and we've made it accessible under the learn section of this site, or here.
