Sprout

What Is Sprout?

Web: http://sprout.tigweb.org/

Sprout is an e-course<http://sprout.tigweb.org/faq/> for young people who want to grow their social or environmental project idea<http://sprout.tigweb.org/faq/> and learn to create lasting change that takes root in their communities<http://sprout.tigweb.org/faq/>. Sprout exists to help make this process simpler, more practical and less intimidating by guiding you through the project management process step-by-step.

Who is Sprout for?

Young people are amongst the most energetic, innovative and active people contributing to positive change in the world. Sprout attracts young people between the ages of 16-30 who want to make a positive difference in their communities through their projects and are committed to doing so with excellence. Sprout participants are passionate about working with others and are comfortable learning and communicating online. They are also creative, dynamic, hard-working and dedicated to making their project a reality and seeing actual outcomes in their communities.  The e-course can be taken from anywhere in the world, provided that you have access to a reliable internet connection, and the platform can be accessed flexibly at any time of day. For more information about eligibility, click here<http://sprout.tigweb.org/getinvolved/applying.html>.

How does Sprout work?

1. Get Involved

On your first visit to the Sprout website, take a moment to learn more about the program. There are many ways to get involved<http://sprout.tigweb.org/getinvolved/> and if you are an eligible candidate, you can even apply online to take part in the e-coures as a participant or an e-mentor!

2. Admission

Based on your application and a Skype interview, the selection committee will admit the next Sprout class. You will be notified by e-mail if you are a successful candidate.

3. Training

Learning online with people from all over the world is an amazing new experience. In preparation for the e-course, everyone in the Sprout class takes part in a fun-filled training program to become familiar with one another and how to use the online classroom. This way we all work and learn as team - kind of like a Sprout family! We also address more technical and administrative issues, like who to go to for support, where to post assignments, when to have a meeting, etc.

4. E-course!

Now that everyone is a Sprout expert, all you need to do is login to the online classroom where you can see announcements and assignments, download readings, stream videos, chat and blog with the help of your Sprout class and e-mentors. Over the two-month duration of the e-course, you will begin to build your e-portfolio<http://sprout.tigweb.org/faq/> consisting of a collection of documents, images, blog entries, discussion board posts, multimedia, hyperlinks, bookmarks and contact information. The e-portfolio serves as an excellent resource as your go forward to implementing your project in your community!

5. Completion

Once the e-course is completed, you will have created networks with other young leaders across the world and have completed an e-portfolio of relevant materials to implement your project.
