Vancity’s new CEO Tamara Vrooman
and COO Ian Warner plug in to an
outdoor office charged up by Canada’s first solar-powered
billboard.

Vancity’s agency TBWA Vancouver
developed the concept of the billboard as a tactical element of Vancity’s latest
brand campaign themed “We all profit”, (weallprofit.vancity.com) to draw
attention to the use of alternative energy and Vancity’s commitment to
becoming the
first carbon neutral financial institution in Canada.

TBWA worked with Knight Signs of
Vancouver who engineered and manufactured the billboard sign using Carmanah Technologies' system of solar
panels and batteries which powered the energy efficient L.E.D.-illuminated
Vancity logo. The billboard was installed in a Pattison Outdoor location
adjacent to General Motors Place, not far from Vancity’s head
office.

The “We all profit” campaign,
which launched in mid-June, also featured a community bike share to promote
alternative transportation, while a billboard made of recycled office
materials—to promote waste reduction—is scheduled for February
2008.
