Hourly Salary: $26.25 

Location: FACILITIES DIVISION (Planning & Facilities) 
Hours of Work: 7 hours per day 
Available: Immediately (approximately 1 year)

JOB BAND DESCRIPTION: 
Positions within this band perform diverse functions. Positions involve a variety of technical tasks, services and responsibilities that assist staff, provide educational programs and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Work may include planning and designed methods and procedures, ordering and/or receiving supplies and/or drafting construction drawing. Develops manuals, and maintains records, databases, catalogues and statistics. Operates a variety of computerized and/or printing equipment. May supervise or provide guidance to support staff. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: 
Completion of grade 12 plus up to 4 years post secondary training and up to 5 years related experience or an equivalent of education, training and experience. Certification in Urban Planning an asset. Must be able to meet the following assessments: Excel (+90%) and Word (+75%). Knowledge of Crystal Report and Geographical Information System (GIS) an asset. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and receive simultaneous instructions from Department Manager and Planners. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

SOME EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: 

  • provides technical support to the Division
  • compiles and tabulates statistical information involving a variety of calculations and data management systems
  • locates or researches background information
  • prepares and updates records and statistical reports from a wide variety of material
  • verifies and prepares Design Aid Sheets (Ministry of Education Space Inventory)
  • tabulates student enrolment data
  • assists in designing and distributing a space use survey and inputs data used to calculate school capacity
  • maintains facilities inventories and drawings
  • composes correspondence and develops reports
  • types general correspondence and reports, schedules meetings, maintains filing system
  • attends meetings and records minutes
  • receives and screens callers, answers and/or relays enquiries regarding departmental activities, rules, regulations, procedures, etc.
  • communicates with the public, schools, external agencies, and consultants
  • performs other work within the band as assigned
