DUTIES: The successful candidate:

*    Supports and maintains responsibility for the development and execution of initiatives within the role´s focus areas: Researching, developing, and implementing an environmental management system (EMS) across BC Hydro that supports management of environmental risk and both strategic and operational decision-making to achieve BC Hydro's environmental long-term goal on no net incremental environmental impact
*    Researches, develops and recommends options to integrate safety, health and environmental management systems  to provide consistency and effectiveness to managing safety, health and environmental risks
*    Supports the development, application and analysis of performance metrics and reporting to support assessment of BC Hydro´s progress in achieving its long-term goal
*    Supports development of the environmental risk framework to guide our understanding and management of risk
*    Manages elements of strategy development, benchmarking, best practice review, research, performance tracking and metrics development, planning, coordinating and/or implementing programs
*    Communicates vision and plans to different levels of the organization and integrates feedback with partners
*    Arranges for the support of in-house specialists and external consultants where required, including the administration of contractual arrangements
*    Prepares briefings and provides technical recommendations for use in project planning and internal consultation
*    Provides recommendations on environmental matters having a bearing on environmental and sustainability policy
*    Prepares technical and status reports, administers budgets, controls schedules and review reports prepared by others for technical content and appropriateness
*    Provides project management oversight to subordinates and assigned study/project staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have:

*    Six to eights years of experience with a degree in environment sciences, resource management or equivalent experience
*    Environmental sciences, engineering, and/or business analysis background that can be applied in developing and implementing an environmental management system (EMS), support development of an integrated safety, health and environment management system, support development of environmental performance metrics to support BC Hydro's environmental long-term goals, and support development of an environmental risk framework
*    Additional education, experience and skills in project coordination, integrated safety, health and environment management systems, incident management systems, business case development and justification, business process analysis, information management systems, environmental reporting, EMS auditing, environmental performance metrics, and change management
*    Strength in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams
*    Well developed oral, written and interpersonal skills are required, including skills at building partnerships, engaging stakeholders, negotiating, managing change, influencing others, and delivering presentations
*    Demonstrated ability to work effectively.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

*    This is a temporary seven month position.
