We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Planner who will play an integral role in leading and shaping the development of TransLink's infrastructure towards building better communities.
Working with a dynamic team of planners, your role is to lead and manage a diverse range of initiatives including short and medium-range plans, passenger facility studies and design development, rapid transit studies and plans, greenhouse gas reduction projects, and other special planning projects. Participate in work teams for other initiatives, including long range plan development. Specific responsibilities include:
* Developing project strategies, objectives, and deliverables;
* Managing and monitoring project work plans and project budgets;
* Leading and participating in cross-functional teams, technical committees, and design exercises;
* Conducting technical policy research and analysis;
* Preparing reports, publications and other media for dissemination to senior decision makers, stakeholders and the public;
* Working collaboratively in a leadership role with internal and external stakeholders;
* Developing and facilitating planning and community consultation processes;
* Mentoring staff members.
A University degree in Planning, or a planning-related field (engineering, geography, etc.), preferably at the Master's level, with at least 5 years related professional work experience is required. We are looking for a well-rounded, multi-disciplinary planner, who has professional experience in several of the following areas: plan development, transportation planning (including transit planning), transportation engineering, land use planning, urban design, project management, capital project planning, strategic planning and public involvement. Experience in facilitating senior-level meetings and working with multiple partners/stakeholders on complex policy, service, design and/or infrastructure projects, preferably at the local/regional government level is essential. You must be a leader with superior communication and interpersonal skills who has the ability to effectively complete deliverables under compressed timelines. Familiarity with transportation planning in the reater Vancouver Area is an asset. Membership or eligibility for membership as a professional planner or engineer is preferred.
