Proposal Request for an Energy Efficient, Environmentally Sustainable High-Rise
This project aims to provide $100,000 toward the design and construction of a high-rise, residential building of 100 units (or more) that demonstrates energy performance that is 25% better than the Model National Energy Code for Buildings - and includes other specific features to ensure durability and healthy indoor environments.
The project supporters, comprised of governments and utilities, aim to promote design innovations to maximize energy performance, while reducing capital costs, particularly on ventilation systems, compartmentalization of units, and air leakage control and reduced suite heat loss via innovative, but marketable window-wall systems.
To ensure that the building is affordable, the residential units should be priced at approximately the average price point for the municipality where they are sold.
