We are looking for outgoing, energetic and dynamic individuals to join our
BC Hydro Outreach team for a contract opportunity beginning September 10,
2008 through December 14, 2008. Along with educating customers and building
awareness of BC Hydro´s energy conservation campaigns and initiatives, you
will attend community-based events and visit various locations to give
presentations and hold information sessions. You will work alongside other
BC Hydro representatives to build relationships with community stakeholders
and local media.
LOCATIONS: Burnaby, Surrey, Nanaimo, and Kamloops
COMPENSATION: $16.85/hour plus a total rewards benefits package
DUTIES:
Represent BC Hydro Power Smart in a professional manner in the community.
Interact with customers by delivering animated presentations on energy
conservation to various audiences. Will be required to wear promotional
costume when at events.
Educate customers and build awareness of Power Smart through on site
promotion. This includes sharing behavioral tips, educating about products
and programs, and generating enthusiasm.
Interact with children, adults and businesses to generate and reinforce an
energy conservation ethic.
Build relationships with reporters, participate in filming, and work with
print, radio and television media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All qualified candidates must:
Be a highly motivated, self-starter with initiative and dedication to job
responsibilities.
Be very outgoing and personable with a positive attitude and good sense of
humor.
Possess strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Enjoy public speaking and interacting with the public.
Be currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) post secondary school.
Possess a valid driver´s license with no restrictions (not an "L" or "N"
driver).
Have experience with computers and MS Office applications.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position requires weekend work, including regular evenings, early
mornings and statutory holidays - flexibility and punctuality are a must.
Regular days off will be Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday.
This position involves traveling with some overnight stays within the
surrounding communities.
Knowledge of a second language will be considered an asset.
