LEED certification and electric vehicle question

Could anyone please provide information as how an electric vehicle, as part of a building proposal, e.g. a community centre's vehicle, would affect its LEED certification? Also, would a Battery Electric Vehicle have better ratings than a hybrid car? What about a electric vehicle that has batteries that have been revived -- would the revived batteries' electric vehicle (a reused battery) get even more points? n.b. Revived Batteries are those that have been taken from the recycling pile, rejuvenated. Thanks in advance. Rob Matthies P.S. Have you read the new book, "Lives Per Gallon"?

Answer:

Thanks for your question.  Yes, there is a point available in the LEED rating system for alternative fuel vehicles (credit 4.3).  You can view the checklist on the Canada Green Building Council website here.

In regards to your question about electric vehicles vs. hybrids, you should contact the CaGBC directly about this.  Colleen Loader is their contact for LEED project inquiries: cloader@cagbc.org or 604-681-7002 ext. 2
