Fund Development Officer

Smart Growth BC is a province-wide non-profit organization working with communities, local governments, professionals and industry sectors in advancing more sustainable land development policies and practices. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced fundraising professional to build and manage our fund development program, including proposal writing, donor relations and donor information management.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for the management of the fund development program, including:
· The design and implementation of the necessary systems and plans to support an integrated, organization wide fund development program;
· Delivery and oversight of the fund development program, including grants and proposals, stewardship, recognition, special events, corporate sponsorships, annual giving, and major gifts;
· Managing an account portfolio;
· Meeting annual targets for the program and assigned donor portfolio.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
· An undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience;
· A certificate in fundraising would be an asset;
· 4-6 years experience in fund development, including experience in managing a donor portfolio;
· Experience leading a team and managing budgets;
· Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills;
· Proven creativity and problem solving abilities;
· Computer and data management experience, with working knowledge of MS Office;
· Superior organizational, planning and time management skills;
In addition to solid fundraising skills and experience, you have a passion for community livability and sustainability issues, and will be a true diplomat for Smart Growth BC and for the principles of smart growth. A personal fit with smart growth values is essential.
This is a full-time position with a 3 month probationary period. Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
