Evergreen's Green Gift Idea

Evergreen offers a $75 consultation service that is designed to help homeowners and renters develop sustainable yard care practices.  This program is only available in the GVRD.  A horticultural advisor visits the client's home/yard and assesses current yard care methods and provides suggestions on:

-          low-impact lawn care
-          waterwise gardening
-          natural pest control
-          composting
-          plant selection
-          design tips

Home Grounds is one of Evergreen's three core national programs that
works to make cities more livable and communities by actively engaging
people in creating accessible, dynamic natural areas.  By bringing
nature and communities together, and focusing on local stewardship,
Evergreen is transforming the way cities are being designed.  Home
Grounds educates people about environmental sustainability starting from
their front step, providing them with the knowledge and tools they need
to promote sustainable yard care practices in their own personal space.
It promotes approaches to home landscaping that will improve health and
safety for renters, homeowners, their families and pets.

In addition to the one-hour consultation, clients are provided with:

-           An Evergreen Lawn and Garden Smart Care Package that
            includes a personalized Yard Care Report
-           2" Rain Gauge
-           Evergreen gardening gloves
-           Additional resources that compliment the consultation
-           On-going support
