City Green Solutions, the only social enterprise ecoENERGY Retrofit Homes assessment service provider in British Columbia, is seeking to expand service delivery of our services in a variety of areas across BC. City Green Energy Advisors are independent contractors that work with the marketing support and assistance of the City Green team. Advisors need pre-requisite skills, an equipment package, training and certification and a marketing license to operate as a Certified Energy Advisor. City Green will arrange training, certification and licensing requirements and assist with accessing equipment.

ecoENERGY advisors provide a home energy assessment service that allows homeowners to receive up to $5000 in Natural Resources Canada grants for energy efficiency upgrades. Additional rebates and incentives are available through the LiveSmartBC program.

Job Description:

General Qualifications
-Personal and professional fit with City Green’s vision and mission;
-Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, building construction and/or building science;
-Demonstrated knowledge of energy efficient products and materials;
-Prior experience with energy efficiency assessments is an asset;
-Understanding of basic arithmetic and geometry;
-Ability to read and interpret blueprints an asset;
-Ability to speak a Mandarin/Cantonese essential for Metro Vancouver applicants;
-Good computer skills, possession of an email address and access to the internet;
-Good communication (oral, written and telephone) skills;
-Possession a valid British Columbia license – in good standing;
-Access to a reliable vehicle with liability insurance of not less than $1,000,000;
-Access to commercial liability and errors and omissions insurance;
-Ability to interact well with home and business owners and willingness to represent City Green Solutions and the ecoENERGY program;
-Willing and motivated to work as an independent contractor and assist in the marketing of your services;
-Interested in continual learning to meet the evolving knowledge requirements of the energy efficiency sector in BC.

Responsibilities
-Coordinate with City Green staff for scheduling purposes;
-Operate as an independent contractor to conduct residential energy efficiency assessments using the ecoENERGY retrofit program system;
-Prepare, present and explain custom ecoENERGY Retrofit Home Energy Plans to residential customers;
-Prepare and deliver ecoENERGY Houses labels to residential customers;
-Promote and conduct follow-up assessments with residential customers;
-Complete and submit, on a timely basis, all reports and electronic files required;
-Respond promptly to all City Green and client issues and inquiries;
-Install (if required) energy and water conservation devices in residences;
-Attend scheduled team meetings and training sessions as required;
-Comply with the Natural Resources Canada Houses code of conduct;
-Undertake regular upgrade training;

Purchase and maintain the required equipment: In addition to their own vehicle, advisors need a blower door, notebook computer (1GHz or higher) with portable colour ink jet printer, high speed internet connection, ladder and small hand tools. Approximate cost of purchasing advisor equipment new, including laptop, is $4,000. City Green can assist the advisor with an equipment purchase plan.

Candidates must have sufficient prerequisite skills, complete a self study/training program, attend approximately 5 days of structured field and class training and complete a supervised training period.
