Construction Waste Management Case Studies

The Greater Vancouver Regional District is looking for local companies who have adopted policies or best management practices that promote waste reduction on the jobsite. They would like to showcase these examples at the next Zero Waste Challenge public consultation workshop on May 30, 2007. If you would like to learn about the GVRD “Zero Waste Challenge” please follow this link http://www.gvrd.bc.ca/recycling-and-garbage/zerowaste.htm

What are they looking for?
A company who has…

  • adopted jobsite recycling as a standard practice
  • achieved a recycling rate, on one of their projects, that exceeds industry standards
  • salvaged or reused a building that was slated for demolition
  • been using salvaged/recycled content building materials extensively on their projects

What’s in it for you?

  • Poster board profiling your company and/or project which will be displayed at the Zero Waste Challenge workshop on May 30th, 2007 and possibly other tradeshows we participate in.
  • The case study will be posted on the BuildSmart website under Case studies <http://www.gvrd.bc.ca/buildsmart/case-studies.htm>  and will be included in BuildSmart publications about construction waste management (the BuildSmart website gets an average of 15000 visits/month)
  • You will be invited to attend the May 30th workshop and get a chance to participate in the discussion about the GVRD Zero Waste Challenge

What is required from you?
A one-on-one meeting (forty five minutes to one hour maximum) to tell about your story and provide one or two photos of the project, the jobsite, etc.

If you or someone else you know are interested in discussing this further please contact Nermine Tawfik by phone at 604-451-6072 or email at Nermine.tawfik@gvrd.bc.ca
