Communications Coordinator - Smart Growth BC

Smart Growth BC is a
province-wide non-profit organization working with communities, local
governments, professionals and industry sectors in advancing more sustainable
land development policies and practices: compact
communities, sustainable transportation, affordable housing, preservation of
greenspace, and more efficient use of infrastructure.

Smart Growth is looking for a
dynamic Communications Coordinator
to work with the Smart Growth BC team and help take the organization's messages to the next
level. S/he will be responsible for:

·
developing a healthy communities campaign
strategy,

·
managing Smart Growth BC’s research
publications,

·
producing and disseminating educational
materials,

·
publishing articles,

·
raising the media profile, and

·
developing key partnerships to promote smart
growth strategies in different sectors.

The ideal Smart Growth BC
Communications Coordinator will be ready to start February 18, 2008 and looks
like this:

You are a creative,
motivated and highly effective individual, with a broad understanding and
interest in smart growth. You have a passion and desire to make change happen to
ensure our communities are livable and healthy. It’s not so important what your
formal education is, but you may hold a degree in communications, planning, or
related field, and have 3-5 years experience in communications and advancing
policy. You have led successful campaigns and have worked and/or volunteered in
the non-profit sector. You are brilliant at creatively and effectively
communicating complicated concepts, e.g. smart growth and healthy communities,
to a diverse audience – from business, to local government, to the general
public – verbally and in writing. You are tech-savvy, and know how to update
websites and produce electronic-based materials easily and efficiently. You have
media training and experience and are comfortable communicating with media
through print, radio, or video. You excel at marketing and raising funds to
support your projects.
