City Green Solutions is the only non-profit organization in BC to provide home energy efficiency assessments, customized retrofit plans and access to up to $5000 in retrofit grants for homeowners.  “No one likes to feel that they are wasting energy…and therefore money!” says Bryan White, a City Green Certified Energy Advisor. “Through the ecoENERGY program, clients get rewarded for making their home healthier, cleaner and more comfortable.  It is a win-win situation.”   The ecoENERGY retrofit program was announced by the Natural Resources Canada as one component of the ecoENERGY Efficiency Initiative that will invest approximately $300 million over four years to promote smarter energy use across all sectors of society.  Eligible buildings include private family homes, duplexes and small multi unit residential buildings. The average grant is expected to be more than $1,000 and will yield an average 30 percent reduction in energy use and costs. “Insulation, air sealing and heating system upgrades are the most common retrofit suggestions, though it is exciting that this new program also rewards solar hot water heat and water conservation measures.” says Paula Steele, City Green’s Marketing Coordinator, “Grants and long term energy savings make it easy and rewarding to make this sustainable lifestyle choice.”
