Does anybody know of a resource for recycling landscaping materials, plants & shrubbery etc. Is there a way to intercept this stuff before it goes to landfill or composting?

In summer 2006, we recycled a plot of yucca plants we wanted to get rid of. We posted an ad in the free section of Craig's list. People had to be prepared to come with their own tools and dig them out. We had a deluge of calls and in the end, three people removed and reused almost all the plants. Then, I dug out the area to remove any residual tubers so the yuccas would not grow back.
