DUTIES: The successful candidate:
Will lead a portfolio of
special projects and strategic planning initiatives related to environmental
policy, sustainability including BC Hydro´s environmental long term goal, policy
framework and decision analysis, as well as operational implementation for
company-wide metrics and reporting
Is recognized as an environment
professional and is responsible for analyzing and advising on appropriate
strategic and operational policy mechanisms for emerging climate change /
greenhouse gas legislative, market and policy frameworks and regulations that
will impact BC Hydro
Provides strategic and business analysis and
insight on energy and environmental / Triple Bottom Line (TBL) issues that
affect BC Hydro goals and objectives as well as preparing and contributing to
issues management, developing integrated sustainability solutions, risk
assessment, risk reporting, and providing support to senior executive and board
of directors briefings and meetings
May provide work and project
leadership to consultants, junior environmental specialist, and technical
support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will
have:
A bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as
environmental sciences, resource/environmental management, business, economics,
or engineering
Nine to 12 years related experience within an electric
utility or similar environment with emphasis on energy and environmental policy,
performance measurement, relationship management and/or experience managing /
leading a large project or initiative
Knowledge of greenhouse gas policy
(considered an asset)
Extensive knowledge of environmental issues and
sustainability sufficient to provide technical coordination and leadership
Expertise in ecosystem asset valuation and environmental performance
measurement
Demonstrated and recognized experience in regulatory
processes, economic analysis, metric development and application, and the
development of strategic plans and policy materials
Experience with
change management and a good understanding of how to determine and influence
customer, internal and external stakeholder expectations
Knowledge of BC
Hydro´s business and the energy market
Sound business acumen, including
the ability to analyze complex strategic requirements and develop action plans
Excellent presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and oral/written
communication skills
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with proven
ability to understand stakeholders´ points of view, and incorporate them to
influence change, plan development and decision-making.
