Acting Manager - Smart Growth Advisory Services

8 month contract: June 4, 2007 – January 18, 2008

Smart Growth Advisory Services is a mission-based consulting service offered by Smart Growth BC to local governments and businesses. Smart Growth BC is looking for a dynamic and experienced person to take over as our Manager of Advisory Services for an eight month period while our Manager is on leave. The main responsibilities of this position in this period are to manage and ensure all existing contracts are completed on time, on budget and to high quality standards. This includes managing all subcontractor teams, staff and client relationships.  

The Acting Manager contract will begin June 4^th to allow sufficient overlap with the Manager. The ideal candidate looks like this:

You are passionate about community livability, have a solid understanding of smart growth, community/land use planning and development issues and will be a true diplomat for Smart Growth BC and for the principles of smart growth. You have excellent project and people management skills, and have considerable experience working on project teams, including a minimum of 3 years experience as a senior team leader for consulting projects. Your creativity is an asset to your work, especially in leading public consultation processes. You have exceptionally strong communications skills – both written and verbal. You have a solid understanding of Smart Growth BC’s clients and have worked with this client base.

Your academic background preferably includes a masters degree in planning or a related field; professional training in a smart growth, or land use-related field is also preferred, but not required. A personal fit with smart growth values is essential.

This is a full-time eight month position.  Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
