Sustainable Design Specialist (LEED Existing Buildings)
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN SPECIALIST

At HOK, sustainable design - as a core value and integral part of our work - takes form in two ways: Sustainable Design Consulting and Sustainable Design Integration. Our Sustainable Design Integration team is focused on the integration of sustainability into all of our work, and Sustainable Design Consulting is focused on specific stand-alone services offered to our clients. The Sustainable Design Specialist, as a member of the Sustainable Consulting team, will be responsible for the management of LEED EB and other Sustainable Consulting projects.
Responsibilities include:
•Evaluate project options based on success factors and challenge design assumptions to identify and motivate sustainable design opportunities
•Oversee and coordinate documentation for submission to the USGBC/CaGBC for Project LEED Certification and existing buildings (LEED EB)
•Develop, modify and/or review documents according to established standards and technical expertise
•Accept responsibility for project deliverables and outcomes
•Assist in analyzing client issues and developing solutions
•Attend project meetings and brainstorming/visioning sessions
•Coordination with external consultants, including engineers, building operations, etc.
•Technical analysis and support during design and construction
•Develop solutions to technical problems
•Aid in the development of sustainable policies, process methods, and tools
•Act as an agent/advocate and subject matter expert for sustainable strategies providing guidance and consultation to project teams to ensure decisions are executed in the best interest of all key stakeholders
•Maintain an advisory role to staff in ordering technical experience for program compliance with LEED documentation and certification
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Architectural Technology/Interiors/Engineering/Environmental Sciences or related field
•Demonstrated LEED EB experience
•LEED Accredited Professional (a must)
•Proven knowledge of LEED rating systems through both the CaGBC and USGBC
•Demonstrated interest and/or background in sustainable design and conservation strategies
•Strong client relationship management skills
•Proficient in MS Office
•Strong communications skills – both verbal and written
•Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
•Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, and on multiple projects simultaneously
•Ability to work under limited supervision
