Learn to Integrate Sustainability Into Purchasing and Bid Documents

For organizations that recognize the opportunity to advance sustainability through purchasing, it is important to integrate sustainability into bid documents. This workshop teaches targets buyers, purchasing managers, sustainability advisors and others to teach them how to send clear sustainability performance signals to the market, assess proposals effectively, and to enhance relationships with suppliers.

This workshop will focus on helping purchasers and others:

• Learn how to embed sustainability into traditional tenders and evaluations

• Gain experience with tools to integrate sustainability into the RFP process, including:

o Sustainability performance questionnaire(s) for suppliers

o Methods to evaluate suppliers

o Sustainability clauses for contracts

• Using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure program impacts.

• Understand the application of these tools from an in-depth case study

Guest speaker: Vicki Wakefield, Manager of Logistics and Sustainability), University of British Columbia will share case studies of how to evaluate suppliers based on social and environmental factors. She will be joined by Jennifer Young, BC Account Manager for Acklands Grainger who will speak from the vendors perspective about responding to RFP’s with green or sustainability specifications.
