VIMFF Earth Alive Series with "Building my Earthship: From the Ground Up" presentation by Anna Cosentine: story of the time, energy, process and rewards of building an off-the-grid, self sufficient earthship home on the mesa in Taos, New Mexico; followed by screening of the "Garbage Warrior" film; and screening of the following films: "Gimme Green" (humorous look at the American obsession with the residential lawn and the effects it has on our environment, our wallets, and our outlook on life); "Heart and Soil" (a charming film that makes a compelling claim for the importance of growing local food systems to help sustain our personal and planetary health); "Carpa Diem" (a parallel between letting the water run in the sink and the waste of water that could turn into tragedy); "Fridays at the Farm" (compiled from 20,000 still images, this personal essay is a father's meditation on his blossoming family and community upon joining a local organic farm).

The Earth Alive Series of sustainability films is presented by One Earth Initiative and the David Suzuki Foundation in partnership with the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF -- www.vimff.org) and the H.R. MacMillan Space
Centre. The Earth Alive Series takes place on the evenings of Feb. 24 to 28 at the Planetarium (H.R. MacMillan Space Centre).

Tickets $17 in advance, $19 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
