Vancouver: Bringing Industrial Land to the Green Economy
February 21, 2012, 8:30 am–4:00 pm$499
With over 169 million square feet1 of industrial space in Metro Vancouver and hundreds of thousands of jobs, our industrial sector should be the hub of our local green economy. This course is a must for developers, investors, building owners, and municipalities interested in increasing absorption rates, decreasing risk, and lowering infrastructure costs, all while reducing the environmental impact of industrial developments.
Join us for a full day, interactive course on where we explore why “eco-industrial” is not an oxymoron and how you can achieve real economic and environmental benefits. Using successful case studies and best practices and hands-on activities you will learn:
- Details on the the economic, social and environmental business case for eco-industrial parks and embedding sustainability in existing industrial lands
- A step by step plan to transform your existing industrial lands from visioning and opportunities assessment to prioritization and planning.
- Practical tips for eco-industrial development and economic development strategies in British Columbia.
- Elements of an eco-industrial park project, from ‘raw’ land to site planning, infrastructure design, marketing and more.
- Challenges and lessons learned for new and existing industrial lands projects and strategies.
