Solutions to Climate Change Inspired by Nature
The Biomimicry Institute (www.biomimicryinstitute.org) would like to invite you to a very special conference covering the leading edge of climate change mitigation technologies. The conference is unusual in that it focuses on one of the fastest growing and most promising areas of climate change technology development: technologies inspired by models from the natural world.
This first-ever intensive will highlight new technological innovations inspired by 3.8 billion years of R&D which are helping us mitigate and adapt to a changing world, for example:
• Filters modeled on human lungs which sequester over 90% of the CO2 in flue stacks.
• Wind turbines designed after humpback whale flippers which show a staggering 32% reduction in drag over conventional blades.
• Biofuels sourced from diverse, native plants akin to prairies which produce 238% more bioenergy than conventional monocultures.
The morning's keynote addresses will be given by David Orr and Janine Benyus, followed by five panels given by leading innovators applying bio-inspired solutions today.
The conference is Oct. 20, 2008, in San Rafael, California. Register to attend at www.bioneers.org/node/2617
