Natural Building Workshop

The
Yarrow Ecovillage and Shayne King-Scobie are offering a hands-on learning
opportunity for a natural building method relevant for our climate. After
completing a series of Builder Training Workshops through EcoNest, Shayne will
be teaching a faster method of cob called “Light Clay”. For examples and

Ecovillage, Yarrow, B.C. (90 km east of Vancouver)

 

 

What you will
learn:

-How to create a mix of light clay
(clay, sand, cedar chips or straw, water)

-How to apply the infill
of light clay into forms to create beautiful breathing
walls

-An introduction to
additional natural building methods such as rubble trench foundations, cordwood
masonry and natural plaster finishing.  

-How a composting toilet
works

 

Great for those wanting to build their own house
economically, for those working in landscaping or construction, or those with a
thirst for natural building knowledge. The content is applicable for all
experience levels.

 

Tuition: $200 including vegetarian meals
and
lawn for basic camping.
