Mike Easton, QMC Metering Solutions

Mike Easton of QMC Metering Solutions will be presenting the benefits of two proven green technologies: sub-meters and smart meters. Sub-metering can be used in multi-tenant properties where all electricity, gas or water consumers are paying a flat rate. Sub-metering ensures all consumers are now paying for what they use, thereby encouraging energy conservation and promoting equitable utility billing. Studies have shown that sub-metering reduces a property’s electricity consumption by 18-25%. Smart meters allow energy users to record and analyze details of their energy consumption. They can then pinpoint behaviors or processes (ie- machines and appliances) that are using excessive amounts of energy. Consumers can then conduct energy efficiency retrofits or programs to save in these areas.

Bio - Mike Easton was born and raised in Coquitlam, BC and received a Bachelor of Business Administration at Simon Fraser University. He has worked previously with the BC Hydro Power Smart Team and is now the marketing manager at QMC Metering Solutions. QMC is working with various utilities, property associations, and LEED professionals across Canada to increase the use of smart sub-metering in order to decrease energy use.
