Living Buildings - Sustainability Community Breakfast
Living Buildings - Sustainability Community Breakfast
Living Buildings, the next Sustainability Community Breakfast, takes place Thursday, April 10th, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Please note the NEW VENUE for the 2008 breakfast series – the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) downtown Vancouver campus at 555 Seymour Street, Vancouver. The breakfast will feature:
Max Richter, Intern Architect, Stantec
Alex Hutton, Sustainable Building Specialist, Stantec
Jay Hiscox, Architect and Senior Associate, Stantec
In 2007, Stantec won an award in the most visionary category in the Cascadia Regional Building Council's Living Futures design competition. The team proposed a scheme that applied the principles of bio-mimicry and addressed the 16 pre-requisites of the Living Building Challenge, set upon a seven acre site at Main and Hastings. This presentation will present the reasons to think beyond carbon when considering our environmental challenge, an overview of the Living Building Challenge, an explanation of the net zero energy and water schemes, and a look at how bio-mimicry concepts can be applied to urban design. If you plan to attend please RSVP by clicking one of the links below.
