"Clean Green: How to Save Money, Green your Life, and Have a Healthier Home"

Linda Hunter

Linda Hunter, Healthy Home Expert and Author of Green Clean

We all have at least an inkling that conventional cleaners are among the most
harmful products we can bring into our houses. Still, when looking for more
natural choices, it’s easy to feel lost amid all the data and small-print
labeling. But the search is not that difficult, once you know where to look and
what to look for. Cleaning green is a good place to start a program of green
living because you learn alot that translates to other areas of your life. And
home is a place where you can take control.

Bio - Linda Mason
Hunter is a pioneer in America’s green movement. In 1989 her book The Healthy Home: An Attic-To-Basement Guide
to Toxin-Free Living (Rodale Press) gained immediate press and public
attention. A favorable review in the New
York Times led to multiple media appearances, including ABC’s “Good
Morning, America,” Pacifica Radio, and CNN’s
“Daybreak” and “Earthwatch.”

Formerly an editor with the Des Moines Register, Rodale Press, and
Meredith Corporation, Linda has freelanced for the past 25 years, winning
international awards for feature writing and publishing in-depth articles on
architecture, design, and home ecology in various magazines—from Utne Reader, Fine Home Building, and Home
Energy, to Better Homes and Gardens,
Natural Home, and Family Circle.

In 1994 she founded Healthy Home
Designs (now Healthy Home Plans), which markets architect-designed home plans
with blueprints and eco-specifications. One of these plans—Maple Forest—was featured in an eight-part
television series on the PBS show “Hometime.”

Linda has written and produced 11
books, including five with Meredith Corporation (1001 Do-It-Yourself Tips, 1995; Bathrooms:
Your Guide to Planning and Remodeling, 1995; Kitchens: Your Guide to Planning and Remodeling, 1996; New
Remodeling Book: Your Complete Guide to Planning a Dream Project , 1998,
and Ortho’s All About Bathroom Remodeling,
1998) and two with Taunton Press (House
Transformed: Getting the Home You Want with the House You Have, with
Matthew Schoenherr and Wendy Jordan, 2005, and Remodel: Great Home Makeovers, with Matthew Schoenherr and Wendy
Jordan, 2007). She is also the author of The
Healthy Home (as mentioned above), Southwest
Style: A Home Lover’s Guide to Architecture and Design, Creating a Safe and Healthy Home, and Green Clean (with Mikki Halpin).

Linda’s healthy home laboratory and
office are located in a century-old farmhouse “smack dab” in the middle of Iowa where (in addition to speaking and
consulting) she hosts "The Green Zone" on KFMG FM 99.1, streaming on
the internet at kfmg991.org. She also maintains a West Coast office near Kits
Beach in Vancouver, British
Columbia, where she writes and scouts stories for regional and national
magazines. Sometimes (though not often enough) she can be found encamped and
rigorously typing in a tiny guest house near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
