International Climate Impacts and Responses: Implications for BC's Future
INTERNATIONAL CLIMATE IMPACTS AND RESPONSES AND THE FUTURE FOR BC
All day free public event with International and local panelists from 8:30am-4:30pm at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, 580 West Hastings St, Vancouver
ACT is a group of people at SFU with a common cause: to develop effective responses to the challenges of climate change. ACT has three main objectives:
- To build public awareness of the need to ACT swiftly and knowledgeably to address the impacts of climate change through both mitigation of the causes of climate change and adaptation to its effects.
- To address climate change with a progressive mindset: change must be proactive rather than reactive; it must acknowledge and work with people on the front lines of the communities and eco-systems facing the impacts; and it must be inclusive, both in terms of the scope of endeavor and the stakeholders.
- Through research, consultation and dialogue, to formulate policy
recommendations that will help to guide both the public and private sectors as they meet the challenges of climate change.
