Earth Day in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve
Here is an excellent opportunity to get outside this Earth Day weekend!
Earth Day in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (LSCR)
Sunday, April 20th, 2008
10am - 2pm
Celebrate International Earth Day by participating in the 3rd annual Earth Day stewardship activities at the LSCR. This is your opportunity to play an effective role in maintaining the integrity of our local watershed ecosystems.
Join your community for a fun day of activities that seek to minimize impacts and restore important land values. On Sunday, you can assist in protecting riparian ecosystems by removing Japanese Knotweed--a notorious invasive plant species. Come and learn about this activity as well as other interesting stewardship projects that you can be a part of this summer. Families and groups welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
The LSCR is located at the north end of Lillooet Road in North Vancouver. Take Exit 22A on highway 1, turn left at the lights onto Lillooet Road, and follow Lillooet Road five kilometres to the parking lot. Accessible by buses 210 and 228.
The LSCR, which is open to the public, is the 5,668 hectare lower portion of the Seymour Watershed in North Vancouver. The LSCR is a water reserve providing opportunities for environmental stewardship, recreation, education, research and demonstration.
