This course will provide design professionals, contractors, and planners, who already have a basic understanding of green roofs, with the knowledge to determine the appropriate green roof system, design performance criteria, installation and maintenance.
Students will be exposed to leading edge information on materials, design details, and implementation methods. The course presents regionally-relevant solutions supported by the current research at the Centre for the Advancement of Green Roof Technology (CAGRT).

Ann and Gord Baird’s load bearing earthen home is the first code approved seismically engineered high occupancy residence in North America.
Author Ray Oldenburg, Ph.D. is a professor of Sociology at the University of West Florida and the author of "The Great Good Place" and "Celebrating the Third Place".
Students will learn about the basics of green roofs, definitions of the different types of green roof systems and materials, appropriate vegetation for intensive, semi-intensive and extensive green roofs from a downloadable CD prior to taking the course.
Course content will provide students with the knowledge of a benefit analysis of green roofs through a case study method. The format will be 2 hours lecture and 2 hours workshop where students tour the Centre for the Advancement of Green Roof Technology, review products and mock up a green roof assembly.

Al Beebe has degrees in both Mathematics and Physics. Al taught technical and shop courses in math and physics at Centennial High School in Coquitlam, BC. He retired from teaching high school in 2000.

The goal of the Car-Free Festival is to celebrate community, promote locally-based businesses and artists, and party with neighbours and friends; to imagine a community without cars, because the West End is about people, not cars.
