Participants will gain a general understanding of green design ideas, issues and processes, develop a set of personal green goals for their home, and leave with a practical resource workbook. Confused about where to start, who to talk to and what questions to ask? Then this course is for you!

Ecohousing projects update

Bowen Island Ecohousing Village Startup

There is a meeting set for April 12, 2008 at 12 Noon to 2 PM. The location is 585 Berry Road, Bowen Island.

There are a number of households interested in this project and will be attending this first meeting. A owner of a site is seeking initial concept approvals for Ecohousing on the site. Alan Carpenter is checking the feasibility of assembling other sites in partnership with this site owner in order to create a small village of Ecohousing projects.

Energy inefficient buildings cost businesses thousands of dollars every year. Using Langara College as a case study, course participants will explore the range of opportunities for reducing energy losses in institutional and commercial buildings. In the first part of the workshop, an engineer will explain the process in detail, from energy audit to implementation, and then workshop participants will be taken on a tour of the college to learn about the energy saving changes firsthand.
