Tracy Casavant, MES, P.Eng.
Executive Director
Tracy heads up Light House’s eco-industrial planning and development services. With more than 15 years experience, including establishing and running her own consulting firm for ten years, Tracy brings a unique soft and hard skill set of training and experience, blending backgrounds in chemical engineering and environmental studies. Tracy is one of North America’s leading experts on sustainable industrial / employment lands and infrastructure development, and has been responsible for dozens of eco-industrial projects nationally and internationally. Tracy sits on the Advisory Board for Cogen Canada. She teaches the Industrial Ecology course in BCIT’s Environmental Engineering program; has previously been a sessional lecturer at SFU; and has supervised graduate students at UBC, Dalhousie, and Royal Roads. She has been invited to speak on various business, community, and sustainability topics across Canada and internationally in countries such as Korea, China, Taiwan, Mexico, and Turkey.

Gil leads Light House’s policy, research and business consulting team. He manages client projects involving market research, business and policy analysis, and regulatory development.

Jaspal Marwah, MCIP
Senior Planner
Jaspal is experienced in policy and approvals for sustainability-driven projects. His professional interests include green building and infrastructure, sustainable community planning and resource efficiency. Jaspal has worked on planning and development projects across the country, including drafting land use bylaw amendments, subdivision approvals, and design guidelines for prominent eco-industrial parks.

Joanne Sawatzky, BTech MSc LEEDap
Senior Project Manager, Energy Specialist
Joanne is a seasoned building scientist with over 10 years experience working on a wide range of commercial, residential, healthcare buildings across Canada. She is Light House’s existing building optimization expert.
Joanne is an accomplished project manager with expertise in energy efficient and low carbon building design, construction and operation. She leads Light House’s Technical Services team and is responsible for Light House’s LEED documentation projects, developing and implementing technical policies and solutions, and testing innovative technologies.
Joanne’s specialist knowledge focuses on the operation and optimization of existing buildings. She heads up Light House’s Post Occupancy Evaluation services helping owners and facility managers realize their energy efficiency investments while optimizing occupant comfort and well being.

Julie Hardy, BTech, cSBA, LEEDap
Senior Project Manager, IAQ Specialist
Julie is responsible for Light House’s LEED documentation services. She is also an experienced environmental scientist specializing in indoor occupant health and technical research into green building materials. Julie’s role also extends into working with manufacturers to improve and advance the environmental merits of their building products.

Katelyn Brunskill, M.ASc., EIT
Project Engineer
Katelyn is a Chemical Engineer with a passion for the practical application of industrial ecology. She provides research and technical support to evaluate the feasibility of green infrastructure and eco-industrial networking opportunities. Her project experience ranges from high level analysis of utility and business data to consultation with local stakeholders. Katelyn also supports Light House’s educational offerings which includes facilitating workshops (both in-person and online) on industrial ecology and eco-industrial parks/eco-business zones. She is based in Ottawa.

With a background in environmental geography and geographic information systems (GIS), Jenny leads the mapping and spatial analysis for our industrial development and sustainability benchmarking projects. She also has expertise in waste reduction and is responsible for Light House communications and marketing.

Joy provides support for our green building projects and has research expertise in materials technology and eco-industrial development. She has trained through the Sustainable Building Advisor Program and BCIT’s Architectural and Building Engineering Technology program and brings a strong background in project management and research in industrial engineering to our team.
