2010 Challenge - Laneway Project

Name: Laneway House

Square Footage: 1400sqft renovation, 600 sqft new build
Budget: ~$100,000

Goals for the project: For the laneway house – to build new construction at a minimum of LEED Gold. For the overall project (lane house + main house renovation) the goal is to be “net positive” i.e. resulting in an absolute reduction in negative environmental impacts.

Work to be done: Demolish existing garage and construct a new laneway house in its place. Renovate the main house for energy efficiency with an eye to synergies between the main house and lane house.
